Dell Latitude D630 Touchpad, Enable Scrolling?

I have a dell latitude D630 running windows 7 and the damn thing won't vertically scroll using the touchpad. I'm confused--I've done internet searches and can't figure out if this model dell is using a synaptics or alps touchpad. Does anyone have any recommendations :\? Thanks..

I see the drivers there, but only under 32-bit. Are you running 64 or 32 bit? I wonder if they would work...

I'm running 32-bit. Go to Control Panel > System, then the "System Type" will tell you if you're on 32 or 64 bit.

One note, before I installed the Dell drivers I had played around with the Synaptics drivers with no luck. I had to completely uninstall the existing mouse hardware and drivers, then restarted and installed the Dell drivers. I probably restarted 3-4 times before I finally got it right but it was very easy.

If you're in the same situation and the Dell drivers don't work correctly the first time, uninstall the mouse hardware/drivers under Control Panel > Device Manager. Find the mouse, then right-click and choose "Uninstall." Then reboot and install the Dell drivers. May have to reboot once more after installing. This worked for me.

I've worked with this machines for a while now. Not that easy, not hard actually, just be patient.

Enter your tag at the Drivers page, it'll show you the list of drivers for your laptop. Look for the ALPS TOUCHPAD under Pointing devices. Download it (as Kortex said, make sure first it's displaying drivers for your operating system, you can swicth between windows versions from a drop down located right at the top of the list). Once done, download it...

(it will ask you to choose either thru Dell Download Manager, or thru your browser; as I think this might be the only driver you will download, use your browser. If for some reason it only lets you do it thru DDM, go ahead, it's fine. But if you want to get rid of it, delete cookies).

... follow the wizard with "extract, next, ok, I agree, yes I want to restart"...

... once computer is back from restart, you'll see the touchpad icon on the system tray (the lil corner with the icons and time at the bottom right area of your screen).

Open it up, modify the settings. Try one at a time so you can see the difference and get the ones you consider the best for U.
If you have the trackstick (the blue button amongh "G", "H" and "B", you can enable/disable it at will with this driver application)

As you may tell at this point, you can enable/disable scrolling, and modify the scrolling area (making it wider or narrowing it down). As I can tell, you'll have to tap quickly on the touchpad area, and then scroll down with another finger, or, hold the left click button and then use the scrolling area, or trackstick.

Thank you very much for the suggestion. I have been looking for ages to get a suitable driver for Win 7 64bit and this one worked a treat. There are later versions up to A09 that I spotted, but I went with A05 and that works just fine.

This worked really great for me - I think this is a known issue in that if you have Windows 7 on a latitude device, the touchpad stops working - with this updated driver R165804.exe its back to normal.
